UPDATED Coming Up: Husky Open Regatta

UPDATED race schedule times.

On Saturday, March 31, all Mount Baker Varsity athletes will take part in the Husky Open Regatta.  This is a 2000m race through the Montlake Cut over the same course as Opening Day.

Athletes will transport themselves to the race course.  Here is a map link for those unfamiliar with the course.

Coaches will let their athletes know when they are expected to be at the University of Washington.  Racing is set to begin at 8:00 am with the first Mount Baker crew racing at 8:20 am.  Our final race is at 12:10.  We will be unloading the trailer at Mount Baker on Saturday afternoon directly following racing.  All athletes are expected to be at the boathouse unless they have made other arrangements with their coach.  We expect to be finished no later than 3:00 pm, though very likely it will be earlier.

The best viewing is often on the Montlake Bridge or along the cut.  The finish line is the west end of the cut for those who want to be right on the finish.  Bear in mind, if you are watching on the bridge, the bridge is not closed to traffic during racing, so you should not plan on being able to cross the bridge to watch the finish.  It is not uncommon for spectators running across the bridge to almost get hit by cars.  The start line is out in Union Bay, so the only decent viewing spot in the first 1000m is the 500m mark at Fox Point which can be accessed through the Arboretum.
